Mailbox Surprise!

When a mundane trip to the mailbox results in a joyful celebration!

I went out to get the mail. What a surprise to see a large envelope from Pacific Press in my mailbox. Excited, I carefully opened the envelop right there in the street! To my sheer joy, my story LEAPS OF FAITH made the cover of Primary Treasure! Kim and Lars Justinen at Justinen Creative Group did a great job on the illustrations. What a wonderful feeling to see my name in print!

LEAPS OF FAITH is a nonfiction account* of an incident that occured at Two Medicine Falls in Glacier National Park. The four of us took a train trip from Union Station in Chicago to Glacier, Montana. We took one of the first train vacation packages as pandemic restrictions were lifting. I booked the trip so that the kids would see the vastness of the United States plains. Also, I really wanted them to experience the beauty of the mountains. Because the mountains are so different than where we live in Michigan. We live across the street from ever-changing Lake Michigan in a vibrant, tourist-attracting beach town. To this day, my two kids bring up this trip. They even remember this event. We all experienced the same event, but as a writer, this is how I processed what happened. Either way, it's pretty neat for them to see how the creative process sometimes works.
